Born to be an athlete. That seems to be one of the best ways to describe Brian Geraty. And golf was not even his first love as a young boy, and maybe not even today, for basketball has always been a special passion. After all, even at the ripe old age of three he was already shooting hoops on a cut-down basketball hoop in the basement of his parent's home in Nashville. His strong shooting ability, especially from downtown, soft hands, and his blond hair soon had his father calling him "Larry", in reference to the great hall of fame Celtic player. This love for basketball carried over to youth basketball where he played on many top ranked traveling teams from Eden Prairie, and once even played on a summer team that won a national youth tournament whose members included such notable athletes as Joe Maurer, now with the Minnesota Twins, Mark LeVoir, now with the Chicago Bears, and Cameron Taylor, now a top player for the top ranked Wisconsin Badgers. This love for basketball resurfaced later during his college years when, after taking a sabbatical from golf, he become a manger on Wake Forest's top ranked basketball team during the Chris Paul era, perhaps the most successful period in an otherwise storied Deacon basketball tradition.

Born to be a golfer. Soon after moving to the Minneapolis suburb of Eden Prairie in 1995, where the famed golfer Jack Nicklaus was completing his first signature course in the area, his athletic talents turned to golf. Here his talents found a new room for expression as he spent many a day hitting balls on the range and playing a round or two of golf with the local players at his club, Bearpath Country Club. It wasn't long after he began playing that he was encouraged to play at the more competitive and challenging high school and junior golf level.

Here, Brian had a very solid high school and junior golf experience, which included numerous medalist finishes, Conference Championships and Low Scorer achievements, even being recognized as the top prep player in Minneapolis during his junior year of high school. Competition at top junior tournaments was much keener, yet he still managed to have a number of solid top 5 finishes throughout his junior career. He played his college golf at Birmingham Southern which competed in the Big South Conference, where he was recognized as an All Independent 2nd Team member during his sophomore year. Yet he still had a lot of growing up to do. And like many young college players he wasn't quite sure he wanted to commit himself entirely to the demands of college golf. It was at this time that he decided to take some time off from tournament golf and transferred to Wake Forest to complete his college education in 2003.

The time away from golf was good, a chance to experience a different level of competition, in academics and athletics, while accessing his longer term career interests at his much beloved Wake Forest. No matter what he would do after college he would always be a Demon Deacon and continues to this day to be an avid Wake fan. After much soul searching, Brian stepped back into tournament golf in 2006 and had a couple of strong finishes including winning the 2006 Heyward Open and becoming the low amateur at the 2006 Tapemark Pro-Am which he co-lead after the first thirty-six holes. It is with a new found sense of maturity and a wonderful team of coaches that he now embarks on the long journey to become a PGA tour golfer. While there will be a lot of hard work and plenty of ups and owns, which he promises to share with you here, he also feels that he is developing the physical, emotional and spiritual foundation to make that dream a reality. He thanks you for all your prayers and support while he pursues his dream and uses his golf to be the special way he can best nurture, inspire and serve everyone he touches.
